CLUB

About

Stoneygate FC was formed in 1888, and originally played on some waste ground off Alexandra Road in the Stoneygate area of Leicester. As such Stoneygate is one of the oldest Rugby Clubs in the Midlands with a long and impressive history and fine traditions. Stoneygate are synonymous with playing attacking and exciting rugby coupled with a great social and touring heritage. The Club moved from Leicester in 2012 and now enjoy a great partnership and facilities with UCC in Uppingham.

ethos

The Club continues to build on its traditions and heritage, the First XV has been promoted twice in the last few years and now plays in the Leicestershire Merit Table A which is the highest level of social rugby within Leicestershire. They have also enjoyed some silverware recently with wins in the Presidents Cup, and the Salcombe Sevens. The Seniors have a quality fixture list of circa 22 Matches through the season, all within 30 miles of Uppingham. Post-match social remains an important part and through our partner at The Vaults in Uppingham (2 mins away) we look forward to hosting visiting teams, supporters and players in the Stoneygate Tradition. The Club has developed a large and growing Junior Section in excess of 150, accommodating ages from six upwards, with the aims of introducing young players to the joys and benefits of the sport in a safe and skilled coaching environment.

Facilities

Through are partners UCC we enjoy changing facilities, senior and junior pitches together with an all-weather floodlit training pitch. We have joint plans to develop a clubhouse in the near future.
